Hypermatter science was a field of science that involved the study of hypermatter. During the latter years of the Galactic Republic, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine developed an interest in the development of Raith Sienar's proposed Expeditionary Battle Planetoid and he appointed the engineer Bevel Lemelisk to pursue the advances in hypermatter science that would be necessary to make the scheme a reality.
