In 2002, Confederate President Gary Bauer asked Wales and Schlafy to create a free-to-edit internet-based encyclopedia as a counterweight to the Soviet Proletarian Encyclopedia. Wikipedia was up within a year, and immediately became a government-sponsored project. Throughout the Fourth World War, Schlafy and Wales were increasingly used as Confederate propagandists, with government inspectors reviewing the site frequently. At the Confederate defeat after the War, Schlafy and Wales were tried by a Soviet war crimes court, and found guilty of "Spreading lies and propaganda." Both were executed.
