Rescued from an abusive home by David Merrywether (AKA the Cat), Katie Conn became his sidekick, Kitten. Like most of the other heroes of her day, Katie was trapped inside the Urn by Fighting Yank, but unlike the others, she was able to communicate telepathically with other teen heroes during her captivity. These young heroes were organized by Boy King, and after their release from the Urn, they headed to reclaim his kingdom, Swisslakia, only to find it had been thoroughly ravaged by the turmoil that engulfed Eastern Europe in the latter half of the 20th Century. Shortly afterwards, the Boy King led his group, which he had dubbed the Inheritors, to Washington to rescue their captured comrade, Doodle, and ended up assisting the Black Terror and his allies in their fight against the Patriots.
