Frank Alexander Montgomery (1830–1903) was born on January 7, 1830, in Adams County, Mississippi. He was first a lieutenant colonel and then a colonel, commanding the First Mississippi Cavalry during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865. He wrote an autobiography in 1901 called Reminiscences of a Mississippian in Peace and War, which is now in the public domain in the United States because it was published before 1923. He died on December 16, 1903, and is buried at Beulah Cemetery in Bolivar County, Mississippi.
