Harold Francis Callahan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the first-born son of Clinton and Margaret Callahan. He grew up in the Northridge neighborhood of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley with his parents and his sister Jeanne. After Harry graduated from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
