The Calix were a civilization that were encountered by the Federation in the 24th century. Nelson Hemachandra was part of the Starfleet team, led by a Tellarite captain, that established first contact with them. The Calix were very keen in establishing trade rights with the Federation and contact went smoothly. (ST short story: "Hour of Fire")
