This overture was written by American composer and conductor David R. Holsinger for his daughter, Haven. Its driving rhythms are a reflection of the energy of an 8-year-old, who loved to dance and twirl around the house and dreamed of becoming a ballerina. He composed two other pieces honoring his two sons. Holsinger, who writes primarily for concert band, is on the faculty of Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and has served as Visiting Distinguished Composer in Residence at 11 American colleges and universities in recent years. --James Huff 14:16, May 29, 2007 (EDT) (from the the program notes of The Claremont Winds, submitted with permission)
