While solely sailing on the Grand Barnacle for Isla Sirena, Jack Sparrow was stopped by a large British warship. The officer onboard the warship was bewildered that the young Jack was sailing his large ship by himself. Little did he know Jack was using the power of the Sword of Cortés. The officer ordered his crew to board the Grand Barnacle but Jack unaware of the sword's power, turned the British sailors into small sea creatures such as octopuses and starfish. The British opened fire on Jack's ship, but the Grand Barnacle responded by destroying the British vessel. Jack continued his voyage to Isla Sirena. After the final defeat of Hernán Cortés' spirit, the British ship was restored, and its crewmembers reverted to their human forms.
