Mallow nuts were the fruiting bodies of trees of the same name. The trees were large plants with heavy trunks that grew on the planet G0-CVII. They were an important source of food for many native herbivores and omnivores, as the mallow nuts that grew on their branches had high mineral and vitamin content, and a balanced ratio of complex carbohydrates, complete proteins, and fats. These nuts were protected by a hard, thick shell, though, and some of them survived to lodge into the soil and begin new tree growth. The trees also provided homes for several avian species.
