Amanda Tanen (born Amanda Sommers) is a fictional character in the American dramedy series Ugly Betty and spin-off web-series Mode After Hours. She is played by Becki Newton. She is the beautiful but vain receptionist at Mode, she is also the first person whom Betty meets on her first day at the magazine. She and Betty have an extremely quarrelsome relationship, owing to the fact that Amanda has attemped to sabotage any good things that happen to Betty. However, as the series progresses, she becomes better friends with Betty, even moving in with her at one point in the series.
