The DA-series droid was analysis droid developed by the New Republic to be used as scavengers at battle sites. Under the direction of Operation Flotsam and the Historical Battle Site Preservation Act, these droids were used to gather information from any recovered physical evidence from a battle site, prior to full public disclosure. These droids were often accompanied by the SM-series scavenger droids, which collected the physical evidence for them.
