Many variants of the C-135 have been built during its service time. The only variants that were newly built were the tanker aircraft KC-135A and KC-135B, the RC-135A and -B, as well as the C-135A, -B and -F. The other variants, which were the EC-135, OC-135, WC-135 and many others, are the result of upgrade programs.
