Jim Foster was a bus driver who worked in Weatherfield in 1961. He drove a bus that accidentally hit and killed Ida Barlow. The guilt left him shaken and distracted, and he eventually sought out widower Frank Barlow to explain to him that the accident was unavoidable. Jim Foster (credited as Foster) was the first person, however inadvertantly, to kill a regular Coronation Street character.
