The Federation starships named USS Gemini are called as such for this region, the formations contained within and its mythological history. In an alternate reality, the Gemini Project, an initiative of the Jolan Movement on Romulus, was named after the Gemini constellation. The neural agent with which James T. Kirk was infected by the Gemini Project allowed him to recognize and identify the stars of Gemini, with which he was previously unfamiliar.
