Charlotte "Charlie" Steele is the founder and leader of the Hollywood Knights squadron. She is the daughter of film mogul Edward Steele and his wife Lena. Through her parents, Charlie was always exposed to the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry. Then she was viewed as a beautiful partygoer and socialite, purely a social creature. With the collapse of the United States Charlie came face to face with death while on an afternoon flight in a lover's private plane. When the inexperienced pilot could not correct after engine trouble, the pilot jumped with the only parachute. Charlie was able to land the plane without injury, beginning her career in aviation.
