Thomas Jerome Newton is one of the shape-shifters created by David Robert Jones and the ZFT on the basis of the Mysterious Creature. He was ordered by Jones to steal the ZFT book while the Architect and the other Users were busy trying to overthrow Black Six. Despite interference from Olivia Dunham, he succeeded and the book was sent to the past.
