The RGT6EX features a neck-through-body construction with basswood (later mahogany) body wings attached to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with offset dot position markers. Components include dual, active EMG humbucking pickups and an Edge III double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut. Both basswood bodied and mahogany bodied of the RGT6EX exist. In Japan, the basswood bodied one was known as the RGT6EX and the mahogany bodied one as the RGT6EX2. In Europe both guitars are known as the RGT6EX.
