Nate the Snake is a talking snake that the Stranger meets in the ruins of Magincia in Ultima IV. Nate told the Stranger that his job was to bring death to all life in Magincia. Although Nate was hostile, he nonetheless provided vital information to the Stranger regarding the rune of Humility and the Black Virtue Stone. He told the Stranger that to learn of the stone, the hero would have to ask at the pub in Britain. He also said that to learn about the rune, the Stranger would have to ask Barren in Paws. Nate attacked the Stranger immediately after talking to the hero.
