Sirius II is one of two inhabited planets in the Sirius star system. Never having formed an atmosphere capable of stopping enough radiation for life to begin, Sirius II is a barren wasteland. However, due to the deposits of rare minerals here, a mining operation continues to operate, even in the face of extremely hazardous conditions. The fatality rate is very high due to exposure both to radiation and the unstable metals being mined. The Krim-Hwa maintain a monastery here as much because of as in spite of the elements. Monks see the harsh life here as a test of faith. Sirius II also features a Monkdillo processing plant, where Krim-Hwa monks attentively extract the shells of Monkdillos after molting season.
