The Kingdom of Rumania was a country located in southeastern Europe. Rumania bordered on Austria-Hungary and Serbia to the west, the Russian Empire to the north and east, and Bulgaria to the south. Its capital was Bucharest. The kingdom was founded in 1881, following Rumanian independence from the Ottoman Empire. Its language, Rumanian (now Romanian), is a Latin-based form with strong Slavic elements.
