The songs are performed and sung by Matt James, featuring new bluegrass/jug-band arrangements. The exception is "Riverbottom Nightmare Band", which recreates the rock style of the Riverbottom boys' performance. All songs (composed by Paul Williams) were officially licensed from The Jim Henson Company and other respective copyright holders, and the album has been approved by the Henson Company as the first official tribute recording. The album was reissued in 2009 with the title "A Tribute to Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" by Pinwheel Parade (featuring Matt James).
