The Pubescents, or the Pubes for short are the original defenders of the city of Lud seen in The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands. The Pubes live above-ground in City North of Lud. The Pubes received their name when the first group of harriers came to the city of Lud. The Pubes at the time were very young and were well-educated. Since that time, the ages of the two groups has been in flux. Now, the Grays are actually younger than the Pubes and have become their arch-enemies. They are easily identifiable due to the headscarves they wear which are blue.
