Severance is the term given to the phenomenon of "death" in the Great Void. Occurring by any means that would kill an individual in their home universe, the person who is "severed" does not actually die, but is instead returned to their point of origin. In the process, they lose the ability to travel to the Great Void, and as such, they are considered dead to those who remain within the Void, the possibility of communication being rendered null (excluding individuals who share the same point of origin).
