Crewman-cadets were officer candidates for the Imperial Navy within the Imperial Academy system. Their training normally took one year in a Sector Naval Academy, at the end of which they were commissioned as Lieutenants. Training at the central Imperial Naval Academy, however, lasted thirty months.
