The Anti-Monopoly and Merger Laws are a series of laws passed by the United Planetary Federation prior to the Second Sathar War. Wishing to discourage centralized industry and limit the size of corporations to reduce the number and scope of costly corporate conflicts, the laws prevented complete monopolies from forming and laid down complicated guidelines for mergers. So effective were these laws in curbing continuing corporate abuses that they were kept on the books after the war.
