A vėlė was a horned demon, known in Lithuania (though this is actually incorrect, vėlė translated from Lithuanian means ghost or soul, not a deamon), which had the ability to suck out the souls of innocent people. Also Vėlės is the cattle god and the guard of the kingdom of dead in Baltic and Slavic mythology. The term was later used in other Slavic societies meaning any "devil." In 1998, FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder believed that Wayne Weinsider was a vėlė, based on his previous alias of "Ivan Veles." (TXF: "Terms of Endearment")
