The familiar is the upgrade of the imp, the first-level Inferno unit in Heroes of Might and Magic III. They may be recruited at the Upgraded Imp Crucible. The familiar is not much stronger than the imp, but it has Magic channel, a useful ability that ensures that the friendly hero will get 20% of the mana used by the enemy hero. This makes the unit useful, even late in the game.
