In the three-issue miniseries that adapted the first five episodes of the cartoon, Rocksteady was once again a human punk working for the Shredder who was mutated into a rhinoceros while his partner Bebop became a warthog. Rocksteady was also featured in the ongoing Adventures series' first two issues, which adapted the cartoon episode Return of the Shredder. Once the series stopped adapting episodes of the animated series and started publishing its own stories, Rocksteady and Bebop were both returned to being the Shredder's henchmen and assisted him in his schemes.
