John Comer (1st March 1924 - 11th February 1984) played three roles in Coronation Street: * Mr. Birtles, the father of Sheila Crossley, appearing between December 1962 and January 1963 * A Taxi Driver in June 1965 * Building foreman Wilf Jones in April 1968. He also appeared in Street spin-offs Pardon the Expression in 1966 and Turn out the Lights in 1967.
