Although their actions and decisions are largely unknown, Tchernovkov and Private Telinov make their way down into the sewers below Stalingrad. There, they come across Lieutenant Tanya Pavelovna and her party having just cleared a section of the sewers of German influence. They immediately joined the group and helped Lieutenant Pavelovna through the sewers and back to the surface.
