The Imperial Residence on Barrayar was the home of the Emperor in Vorbarr Sultana. The North Wing was the most modern part of the structure, due to having been burned down during Vordarian's Pretendership. The East Wing was the oldest, with wrought-iron gates and worn granite steps. Its facade had a lot of stone carving. Gregor's preferred office was in the North Wing; it had a limited amount of artwork, none of which was antique - he favored rising young artists. Rooms and gardens and such included:
