During a time when organised crime was sweeping through the cities of America, Tagliani was just one leader of a crime syndicate in Chicago. Larcen Tyler, a renowned cat burglar, worked for Tagliani and completed many missions successfully. Unfortunately, Tyler had one glaring flaw in the eyes of Tagliani - Tyler would not kill. Realising that his favourite servant would not do what he was told, Tagliani arranged for Tyler to take a package to a rival syndicate boss recovering in hospital. In reality, Tyler was actually sent to the chief of police's room. Realising he had been set-up by his boss, Tyler tried to throw a bomb out of the hospital window but failed to protect the hospital, chief of police or himself.
