Laird was a Visitor officer, considered one of the best trackers in the fleet. Diana used him to track down the clone of Elizabeth Maxwell, a.k.a. the Starchild. Laird informed Diana that it would be difficult to track the child, but he agreed to it anyway, managing to follow her to Kyle and Elizabeth's house. Laird killed the clone of the starchild when it attacked him, but was himself killed by Kyle.
