A unstrung red marionette was used in the 2005 Christmas event. It could be made by using a Red marionette (arms) on the crate that held red marionette legs in Diango's Workshop. If used with a marionette handle, it would become a Red marionette (strung). When completed and strung, the marionette is unusable; the player had to take it to the Taverley members' gate, where they would receive a hat. After the player took five boxes of decorations to the tree in Varrock Square and decorated it, a usable marionette would be found underneath the tree. It featured again in the 2016 Christmas event.
