John Miles sent Origin a demo of a game he made, and was hired there to work on Ultima 5, where he became the head programmer and ended up writing half the code himself. He also wrote the latest Apple port for Ultima 1 as he drove cross-country to get to where Origin was added, adding in a little joke where ever 4th time the opening sequence he made played through, a knight would charge by, and every 4th time that happened the knight was replaced by a Lamborghini.
