Born in Rousse, Bulgaria, she majored in piano and singing at the Conservatory of Sofia, where she graduated with the highest grades. She made her debut at the Theater of Sofia in 1986 with Otto Nicolai's opera The Merry Wives of Windsor. She has since performed in every country in the European region, as well as in South Africa and South America.
