Ralph Statler was the owner of Statler's Cafe. He purchased the diner from Harvey Leach in 1979 (Psycho III). Statler had a soft spot for waitress Emma Spool who was working at the diner at the time he bought it. Years later, he agreed when Spool asked him to hire Norman Bates when Bates was released from an institution (Psycho II).
