The four new Survivors start on top of a hotel, The Vannah, which was once an evacuation center but has now been swarmed by the Infected. The Survivors arrive just in time to witness the last evacuation helicopter lifting off to a different location and, in the absence of any other option, form a group to fight their way to safety. They enter the hotel with the immediate objective of reaching a safe room on the hotel's ground floor. On their way down, they face repeated Infected attacks, discover that New Orleans is the primary evacuation center, flee through burning-floor levels, experience the benefits of Bile Bombs and introduce themselves to one another in an elevator with malfunctioning doors.
