The Federation Intelligence Service was the civilian intelligence agency of the United Federation of Planets. It was the civilian counterpart to Starfleet Intelligence. (Star Trek: Remington) The Special Operations Group was tasked with the FIS' most sensitive missions and often worked in coordination with the Federation Special Operations Command.
