The Booming Thirties refers to a period of robust economic growth in the United States and, to a lesser extent, several other countries in the decade following the Pacific War. The era was typified by vast increases in capital, infrastructural innovation in the "building boom," an early precursor to globalization with an expansion of worldwide trade thanks to a growth in the aeronautics industry, the surprisingly rapid evolution of military industry into commercial industry, a high standard of living in industrialized and many developing countries, encouragement of free-trade principles, and huge inroads in the civil rights movements for minorities, especially women and blacks in the United States.
