Galanthus Nivalis, or the common snowdrop, is a species of plant. This plant can be used in Potion-making, and Severus Snape kept a jar of these plants in his office in Hogwarts Castle during the 1990s. Snowdrops are among the first bulbs to bloom in spring and can form impressive carpets of white in areas where they are native or have been naturalised. These plants are used in the Muggle world in the treatment of Alzheimer's and may be useful in memory potions.
