The Searchmont Community Volunteer Fire Department protects a municipally-unorganised area northeast of Sault Ste. Marie. The department is funded through Searchmont and Area Local Services Board. The SCVFD is a group of dedicated volunteers that cover first response medical and fire calls for Deroche, Shields, Gaudet and Hodgins Townships in and around Searchmont, Ontario.
