The Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Companion App, simply named Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain or MGS:TPP, is an upcoming app for various smartphone, Apple, and Android devices. It was first hinted at during the Japanese Boot Camp in July 2015 and was later confirmed the next month. Similar to the Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Companion App, it will be made to be used in conjunction with the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (the PC and Xbox 360 versions will not support it). It is non-canonical and holds no story value. One of its functions is that it allows the player to control the iDroid / start screen in-game from their mobile device to view the map.
