The Massacre at Alderaan occurred during the Eternal Empire conquest of the known galaxy. The Republic Navy planned to defend Alderaan from a naval invasion, but was unprepared to face the Eternal Fleet. Though Republic forces fought relentlessly, they barely managed to scratch the enemy and Admiral Dannis Veriga ordered a retreat. The Republic lost half of the forces present during that battle.
