Early designs of this radical TIE craft were based on ideas and concepts that were scrapped from the Advanced TIE program. These ideas and concepts were given to other design teams to see if they could be made viable in a new craft or if a brake through was made, incorporated back into the Advanced TIE program. These early models varied in capabilities but at the time none show enough promise to warrant any further funding or development, not when the main project was producing fighters like the TIE Advanced x1.
