Peter van Pels (8 November 1926 - April or May 1945) was the son of Hermann and Auguste van Pels. His family fled Germany for the Netherlands in 1937. They joined Anne Frank's family in the Secret Annexe in 1942, and remained hidden until 1944 when the group was betrayed. Peter, his father, and Anne's father, Otto, were sent to Auschwitz. Peter and Otto were assigned to the same work detail until 1945, when Peter was forced on a march to Mauthausen in January. He was listed in sick barracks in April 1945, and was dead by the time the camp was liberated on 5 May, but the exact date and circumstances of Peter's death are unrecorded.
