A Starfleet Battle Group was a military unit, a task force consisting of a handful of Starfleet starship vessels organized when there is a sign of a threat to Federation territory or holdings. (Star Trek: Nemesis) The Klingon Defense Force also used battle groups. (ST website: Ships of the Line) It is unclear on whether the Klingon definition of a battle group is the same as that of Starfleet.
