The Imperial Period took place from the Declaration of a New Order in 0 ATC—the transition of the Galactic Republic into the monarchical Galactic Empire. The era was characterized by the beginning of the Galactic Empire, as well as the existence of the Sith Empire in the galaxy, giving the period its name. It was also known as the Imperial era and as the Third Golden Age of the Sith.
