When Commander Stan allied with the Yeda New Republic after the defeat of Palestine's Renegades in 172 ABY(168 AE), they went to Coruscant to re-establish contact with the reigning galactic government for the first time in almost 150 years. There, they found that the Galactic Republic Union was in power, and using the same symbol as the Galactic Empire had used since its formation almost 200 years before.
