Kanihachi is a crab that has a long standing hatred towards Nue. The Nue are his mortal enemy of himself and his ancestors and he seeks to detroy them. As he stands outside of Ooikazuchi Cavern, a passing Oni, the player, gets mistaken for his son, Kantarou, and gets tasked with defeating the Nue. After the player has defeated the Nue, Kanihachi thanks the player for his help in defeating his mortal enemy and heads off back home.
